What It Really Means to Find Your "Free"

This Support Pause sits with what it really means to be finding your free as a Black woman..

If you’ve been thinking about what it means to be finding your free, this pause might sit with you differently.

There are moments when your body softens before you even know why, and it feels like the closest thing to freedom you’ve had all day. This Pause sits with that feeling, the quiet kind of ease that doesn’t ask you to explain yourself.

For Black women, finding your free rarely comes from big life changes. It shows up in the small pockets where you don’t have to manage the room, rehearse your tone, or hold yourself together for someone else.

This episode invites you to notice those pockets, the places where you feel less guarded and more like yourself. No pressure to figure anything out. No demand to be better or softer. Just a moment to acknowledge the spaces where your shoulders naturally drop.

If you’ve been moving through the world in a constant state of readiness, this Pause offers a breath. A reminder that freedom doesn’t have to be dramatic to be real.

Got a story about what it’s cost you to be the strong one? We’re collecting real, lived stories for the Black Women Storytelling Series, and we want to hear yours.
